A REHAB-LAB is a fabrication laboratory integrated into a rehabilitation or medico-social organisation that allows patients/residents to manufacture their own assistive devices by 3D printing. It is based on a patient/occupational therapist/technical referent collaborative model. This person-centred care innovation uses digital tools and was promoted by the Centre Mutualiste de Reéducation et de Readaptation Fonctionnelles de Kerpape (CMRRF) in France.
Discover The Rehab Lab: Where Expertise Meets Compassionate Care
This twinning aims to replicate this innovation in different European countries. This project consists in training of the people who will manage the REHAB-LAB, analysis of local infrastructure for each adopter, deployment of a collaborative platform and implementation of equipment to allow self-design and manufacturing of 3D printed assistive devices. Besides, the twinning includes the transfer of REHAB-LAB-4ALL, an innovative concept created in France to make people with disability become actors in their own rehabilitation process by creating their own assistive devices with higher specifications responding to their personal needs. Ultimately, the twinning will allow for the creation of a European REHAB-LAB community.
